In order to lay broadband lines, a construction company has dug up a new road on behalf of Telekom in Fischbachau.

And that, although the cables should not have belonged here.

Fischbachau

– When the asphalt cutting machine sank into Hagnbergstraße with a loud screech, the residents of the Hammer district could not believe their eyes and ears.

Why is a roadway that was newly paved just a few years ago being torn up again?

A demand from the construction workers on site was difficult, reported Lothar Prack (Neue Liste) in the Fischbachau municipal council.

"No one spoke German there." At least that much was learned: the company had been commissioned by Telekom to lay broadband lines for fast Internet.

By now, at the latest, the alarm bells were ringing for Prack – himself an engineer.

His suspicion: the workers are digging in the wrong place.

New road torn up: lines should have been laid in the parallel road

A few phone calls later, it turned out that the concern was justified.

According to the plan, the route should have run parallel to the Wendelsteinstrasse, says Prack.

And not under the asphalt here either, but next to it in the banquet.

When the builders found out about this, they stopped the machines and switched to the right place, a rather stunned Prack told his fellow councillors.

They hurriedly filled the already torn asphalt with tar.

By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular Miesbach newsletter.

"An absolute temporary measure," he annoyed.

The patchwork will never be able to withstand snow and frost in winter.

"Every seam is a weak point," explained the engineer.

A pity for the recently paved road.

What's more, the banquet on Wendelsteinstrasse was only insufficiently leveled after the work.

When it rains, a large lake forms here.

According to Prack, Telekom is actually to blame for the misery.

"They only take the cheapest companies." Michael Gartmaier (CSU) also noticed the chaos through his job at Herbaria, a few meters away.

Since the construction workers did not sign any sensible roadblocks with detours, various large trucks would have had to turn around in Herbaria's yard.

"What they delivered is under all guns," Gartmaier also complained about the workers.

"How can you destroy a new road like that?"

Trouble about the torn road: no report to the community

The community didn't notice any of this, Mayor Stefan Deingruber (CSU) assured.

Although Telekom does not have to obtain permission from the town hall for broadband expansion, it does have to obtain a traffic law order for the blocking.

"If they had done that, we would of course have pricked our ears," adds Managing Director Johann Neundlinger when asked.

But you didn't have a chance to react.

Prack and Gartmaier found it all the more important to claim recourse from Telekom.

"Every year we cut money out of the budget so that we can maintain our roads, and they destroy everything again because of something like that," said Gartmaier.

Bernhard Padeller (FaB) recommended that the municipality obtain a cost estimate for the repair from a local civil engineering company and then forward it to Telekom.

"Then we have concrete numbers on the table." You've been watching the game for years.

Now is the time to put up a fight.

The mayor promised to look into the matter.

Even if it probably won't be easy to get to the right place in such a large group, you will look for a contact person.

"We're making steam," Deingruber assured local councils and residents.

Because he was also of the opinion: "That's not how you deal with a community and its citizens."
