At the turn of the year, Heim & Hobby closes in the Schongauer Münzstraße.

Vilma and Richard Beinhofer relocate the entire range of products for handicrafts and art supplies to Peiting.

What will change for postal customers?

Schongau

- Fears that a company outing from the old town of Schongau to the next post office in Schongau-West would have to be undertaken can be dispelled.

"Nothing will change for postal customers," emphasizes Richard Beinhofer, who supports his wife Vilma in the business.

Only recently did he start an appeal on social media and look for a new tenant.

And that has already been found.

According to Beinhofer, a well-known company from Schongau wants to take over the retail space, including the post office in the old town.

The contracts with the landlord and the post office have not yet been signed, which is why the name cannot be revealed, but he assumes that there will be a smooth change towards the end of the year.

"The post office will never be closed," says Beinhofer.

The Schongau site is abandoned, Peiting is strengthened

Giving up the Schongau location and concentrating exclusively on Peiting was a decision made for economic reasons, explained Beinhofer when asked by the Schongauer Nachrichten.

"The effort is too great in the long term to run two stores, we also wanted to invest less time in two different locations privately," he explains.

And there is another reason: "The decision was made in favor of Peiting because we operate the post office for the whole town there, and not just for a part like in Schongau," is how he referred to the postal agency at Schreibwaren Seitz on Tannenberger Straße .

Moving is then designed fluently

As far as the goods from Heim & Hobby are concerned, they want to make the move smooth, gradually moving the range to the sales areas in Peiting.

Should be over at the end of December.

In May 2016, the name and goods of Anna Müller's existing Heim & Hobby store on Christophstraße were taken over and reopened at Münzstraße 27.

The post office was only added in November 2019, when the successor in the former traditional specialist shop Einzinger on the corner of Christophstraße and Weinstraße had to close overnight at the end of September 2019 - after a police search.

At the time there were allegations of fraud.

The postal customers were also faced with closed doors, and a solution had to be sought desperately.

Self-illuminating postal sign has been criticized several times

The city welcomed the Beinhofers' initiative to also take over the Schongau post office in the old town.

All paths were cleared in the building committee, even if not all city councilors were enthusiastic about the self-illuminating postal sign, it does not meet the requirements of the advertising statute.
