What is to be done with the proceeds from the Zollinger Corona test center?
During the discussion, a local councilor surprised with her attitude towards animal protection associations.
Zolling
– The proceeds from the quick test center in Zolling have so far been transferred both to the aid organization Navis from Moosburg and to the Zollinger clubs with young members: Over 33,000 euros have been paid out so far, 23,700 euros of which to the clubs.
Since these decisions, the Rapid Test Center has continued to run until it ceased work in April 2022.
Proceeds of 17,163 euros: Don't spend money "again" on youth work
The Zolling municipal council now had to decide how the proceeds of EUR 17,163 that had recently been generated should be used.
The administration had suggested making this amount available to the clubs again – converted to the number of young people registered in each case.
But this proposal met with little approval in the municipal council: Nikolaus Unger (ÜWG) made no secret of his attitude that the money should “not be spent again” on the youth work of the clubs.
His suggestion: Better to “put the money aside”, i.e. create an account whose funds are tied up for social purposes.

Local councilor is skeptical about the work of the animal protection associations: "Sick animals have to be allowed to die sometimes"
Manuela Flohr (UBZ) had another suggestion: The animal shelter of the Freising animal welfare association and also that of the Au animal welfare association were “overfull” after Corona, so all financial support was necessary.
But Andrea Bachmaier from the CSU saw things very differently: she was "skeptical" about the work of the animal protection associations anyway, she grew up in such a way that "sick animals have to be allowed to die once in a while" and she shouldn't spend a lot of money on their care.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
Bachmaier also suggested putting the proceeds from the quick test center on the high edge, in order to then use it to realize projects such as the dirt park in Oberappersdorf (we reported).
The credo of helping people rather than animals was also shared by other municipal council members - for example Wolfgang Hilz (UBZ).
And so in the end the unanimous decision was made to invest the proceeds in a kind of fund and to wait for applications and suggestions from the population or from the municipal council, in order to then use the money for this.
