During the Wiesn, thousands of people wearing traditional costumes plunge into Munich's nightlife.
But they are not welcome everywhere.
We asked the Munich club and bar owners what they think of guests in dirndls and lederhosen.
Munich – After the Wiesn is before the club.
When the last beer is served late in the evening and the first visitors start their way home, the night really begins for many party-goers.
Hundreds of mostly drunk Oktoberfest visitors then flock to the surrounding clubs and bars.
Some owners have therefore resorted to drastic measures.

Especially the discotheques and bars within walking distance of the Theresienwiese and the main train station feel the crowds during the Wiesn.
Some nightclub and bar owners have therefore issued a general ban on guests in traditional costumes.
In others, on the other hand, the motivated party guests are expressly desired.
"Guests from the neighborhood want a normal evening environment," says Florian Schönhofer, head of
Café Kosmos
on Dachauerstrasse.
The cult bar is located directly at Munich Central Station, the Theresienwiese can be reached on foot in just under 20 minutes.
Out of consideration for the residents and because of repeated problems with rampaging Oktoberfest guests, the man from Berchtesgaden decided 15 years ago:
with immediate effect, traditional costumes are banned from
Café Kosmos .
“Right in the middle, but still far away from it all”, well-known faces now also feel comfortable there: The American author Bret Easton Ellis (“American Psycho”) was a regular guest a few years ago.
"Understand our club as a safe space" - ban on traditional costumes in Bahnwärter Thiel, Harry Klein and Café Kosmos
Wearers of traditional costumes also have to stay outside at
Harry Klein
on Karlsplatz.
Although the club does not want to “put anyone under general suspicion”, the operator was forced to take this step because of the bad experiences of recent years.
Daniel Hahn from
Bahnwärter Thiel
makes it clear: "Guests in traditional costume have a very difficult time with us." This is usually an indication that plenty of alcohol has already flowed.
In the past, this has repeatedly caused problems.

"We see our club as a safe space," explains Hahn.
That's why it's "high priority for him that all guests feel comfortable and safe." Schönhofer from
Café Kosmos
isn't really a fan of prohibitions either: "In my heart, I don't think such blanket rules are good either, but it just makes that everyone understands,” the bar owner justifies the ban.

In the
milk bar
, on the other hand, Oktoberfest visitors are expressly welcome.
According to the security, however, they reserve the right to turn away guests if they are too drunk.
Also in the
Hemmungslos
at the Ostbahnhof
the Trachtler are "of course" welcome: "It's just part of it in Munich," says the club.
"Traditional costume is of course welcome, as long as it meets a certain standard," announces Sven Künast from
Pimpernel
at Sendlinger Tor.
Künast makes it clear: "Anyone who looks like a hobbit or garden gnome in a plastic suit from the costume rental stays outside." The
089 Bar
is also looking forward to guests in dirndls and lederhosen: "We have Oktoberfest (of course) and that too all year round people in costume always very welcome.”
