But who are these entrepreneurs?

In a study published this week, the Institute of Statistics outlines the typical profile of the 749,000 creators in 2018: a man (65% of creators), under 40, with no experience in entrepreneurship.

In detail, obviously not all have the same profile.

INSEE classifies them according to seven families.

Former employees

make up a quarter of creators.

Aged between 30 and 50, half of them made this choice out of a desire for independence.

These entrepreneurs have no other professional source of income.

They opted for the status of company (48%) or sole proprietorship (23%).

Their initial investment is at least 4000 euros for 52%.
