With the participation of Syria, the first sessions of the Education Transformation Summit began today in New York, which will continue until September 19, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Syria's participation comes at the invitation of President Bashar al-Assad to participate in the Education Transformation Summit from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The participants discussed on a day of mobilization led by youth and organizing their priorities, interests and aspirations for development during the summit, focusing on the role of youth in construction and development and the need to give them an opportunity to express their vision, achieve their aspirations and contributions, and convey their recommendations to decision and policy makers on the quality of education, its requirements and needs.

Today's conference included dialogues between youth and political leaders, a plenary session on empowering participatory dialogues to change education, and a plenary session in which a dialogue was held for youth with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, which included a youth declaration, building a global movement to transform education and drawing a road map for that. Then, youth activities were distributed in five groups that dealt with environmental work Within the educational program, gender equality and youth leadership by transforming education and youth in education advocacy and finally how to self-learn as a refugee youth.

Today's sessions answered several questions: Why dialogues between generations?

How can youth be meaningfully involved in transforming education?

What are the good practices in engaging youth?

and how youth participation in transforming education can be improved.

The Syrian delegation, headed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, Secretary of the National Committee for UNESCO, Dr. Nidal Hassan, and Director of Planning and International Cooperation Ghassan Shgari, in addition to a youth delegation that includes the CEO of the Syrian Trust for Development Shadi Al-Ashi and the President of the National Union of Syrian Students Dareen Suleiman, President of the Revolutionary Youth Union, Sumer Zaher, and the head of the Vanguards of the Baath Organization, Dr. Muhammad Ezzat Arabi Katbi.
