With the aim of introducing children to their rich poetic heritage, the Directorate of Culture allocated the “Arab Cultural Center in Kafr Sousa” its bi-monthly activity within the reading club of the great poet Suleiman Al-Issa.
The activity, which was held in the reading hall of the center, included the screening of a film about the poet Al-Issa, in which he narrates his poems to children.
Writer and journalist Nawar Al-Shater, who is responsible for the reading club in the center, confirmed in a statement to SANA reporter that the activity is part of the reading club sessions that started in the summer and continued by the center.
She pointed out that the session falls within the objectives of the Reading Club, which is to introduce children to influential figures in the field of children's literature.
She indicated that the great poet Suleiman Al-Issa was chosen because he is one of the most influential figures in the world of the child as a gift to him on the anniversary of his death.
Writer Ali Al-Aqbani said that he preferred to participate in the event by showing the film he directed about the poet Suleiman Al-Issa, pointing out that this film was filmed in the house of the great poet, in which he read a large number of poems directed to the child.
He pointed out the importance of the event in introducing children to Suleiman Al-Issa's poems that are related to our memory, noting that it also included a screening of a film produced by the Syrian General Book Organization, which is accompanied by cartoon drawings representing the poems.
The head of the Arab Cultural Center in Kafr Sousa, Elisa Kassem, pointed out the importance of the activity in teaching children creativity, indicating that the goal of the activity is to revive the literature of the poet Al-Issa in the hearts of children, based on the role of the cultural center in bringing culture closer to children.
