The National Campaign for Early Detection of “Breast, Cervical and Prostate Cancer” will be launched on Monday in Hama Governorate, implemented by the National Program for Cancer Control under the slogan “Your awareness is your strength” and will continue until the 9th of next November.

The program explained in a post on its official page on “Facebook” that the campaign is launched in Hama after a series of intensive coordination meetings conducted by the governorate to identify the medical, technical and service needs necessary to reach a number of those wishing to participate and benefit from the free examinations that it provides in order to achieve the best results. Possible in terms of indicators of cancer incidence in the governorate, which contributes to the development of appropriate treatment and treatment strategies.

The program pointed out that the cities and municipalities of Hama governorate witnessed a number of preparations related to the campaign, including awareness campaigns to promote early detection by providing the necessary health education on the importance of conducting periodic examinations for early detection of cancer in the fixed examination centers located in the Hama National Hospital, Masyaf National Hospital and Al-Assad The Medical Center, the Martyr Ahmed Habib National Hospital, and the Suqaylabiyah Hospital.

In addition to the government examination centers, 3 private centers are participating in the campaign by providing a free breast examination, namely, the Dr. Rafif Terkawi centers, the modern CT center in Mahrada, and the Dr. Haitham Kita Center, where the centers began registering the names of citizens wishing to benefit from the free examinations and scheduling appointments for them.

The program pointed out that in conjunction with the launch of the national campaign to investigate cancer at the level of government hospitals and health centers and a number of private clinics in Hama, mobile medical clinics will tour the various countrysides of the governorate, equipped with the latest medical devices and equipment necessary for medical examinations in order to investigate “breast… neck” cancer Uterus.. Prostate” for all those wishing to check on their health, according to the unified survey protocol proposed by the National Cancer Control Committee and approved by the Ministry of Health.

The mobile clinics start receiving citizens in each area they will go to from 8:30 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon, except for Friday, when they will tour the areas of the countryside of Salamiyah, Masyaf, Suqaylabiyah, Soran, the towns of Besireen, Taqsis, Al Hamra, Marshuh, Qahhana, Al Rabea and Al Maw’ah.

According to the program, the Salamiyah countryside will be the first station for mobile medical clinics, as four clinics will go to the Salamiyah countryside from September 19 to 29, and their location will be near the health centers, explaining that the first clinic will be in Al-Saan district, the second will be in Ali Kasun, while the third clinic will be in Berri.. Al-Sharqi. The fourth is in Denaiba, then it will move to Tal Al-Durra, and the Masyaf countryside will be the destination of the mobile clinics, then to Suqaylabiyah, and then to the towns adjacent to the center of Hama, and then to the Soran area.

On the role of mobile medical clinics equipped with equipment and trained medical staff, the program explained that it is to alleviate the difficulty of movement of residents in villages far from the concentration of medical facilities and to avoid the burden of overcrowding on government hospitals and medical centers, and for the largest possible number of people to benefit from free examinations and their accurate results, knowing that it is the first time in Syria In which such a campaign and these capabilities are witnessed, in appreciation of the difficult living conditions experienced by many segments of society.

The program noted that a free means of transportation will be provided to deliver the beneficiaries of the tests and those living in remote places to the location of the medical clinics and return them to their homes, explaining that the campaign provides women with a mammogram, a cervical examination by taking a smear, and a prostate examination for men by drawing a blood sample.

The program indicated that a group of young volunteers participate in organizing the campaign, carrying out various tasks, believing in the importance of volunteering to raise health awareness in their local communities, stressing the importance of calling for participation in the campaign and benefiting from its services without hesitation, as early detection can be the beginning of recovery.

Last February, the National Cancer Control Committee announced a campaign for early detection of cervical, breast and prostate cancers in health centers and hospitals in various governorates, which began on March 2 in Tartous governorate and then moved from June 16 to the end of July to Lattakia.

It is noteworthy that the National Cancer Control Committee was formed in June 2019 and its work program includes wide activities and events, including awareness campaigns with the aim of raising the level of cancer control, minimizing its effects, raising awareness of the importance of early detection and following up on the latest medical developments in the field of diagnosis and treatment.
