The Collective Security Treaty Organization confirmed today that it is closely monitoring the border clashes between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and hopes to reach a permanent ceasefire between the two sides.
“The General Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization expresses its deep concern about the clashes that erupted from 14 to 16 September 2022 on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border using heavy weapons, which resulted in deaths and injuries,” Sputnik quoted the organization’s press secretary, Vladimir Zinetdinov, as saying in a statement. From both sides,” noting that “the organization welcomes the ceasefire negotiations that started between the border departments of the two sides.”
Zinetdinov stressed that the organization "considers the use of force as unacceptable and only political and diplomatic methods should be used to resolve disputes."
