The queen's grandchildren, including Princes William and Harry, are expected to stand vigil at her coffin later on Saturday.

On Sunday, King Charles will host a reception at Buckingham Palace for "Heads of State and Official Guests Overseas" ahead of the late Queen's state funeral.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan were invited to that reception by mistake, a source with knowledge of the matter told CNN.

In the context of an official state event, the Palace reported that the king would be accompanied only by active members of the Royal Family.

The source told CNN they "figured" it was a management error.

The couple was not "uninvited" from the reception, as reported by some media outlets.

A spokesman for the Sussexes declined to comment.
