Markt Au/Hallertau and Telekom have decided to cooperate on fiber optic expansion.

Details that citizens should know have now been explained in the town hall.

Au/Hallertau

– The fiber optic connection is currently an issue in many communities – and from now on also in Au.

Because on Wednesday, Mayor Hans Sailer and Telekom regional manager Stefan Hanke signed a cooperation that enables 2000 households in the market to be connected to the fiber optic network.

The campaign should be completed by the end of 2025, with the first connections being able to surf with fiber optics from the start of the construction work in mid-2024.

The Telekom offer, which takes into account 1,600 private and 400 commercial connections, includes not only the main town of Au but also the districts of Osterwaal, Osseltshausen, Rudertshausen, Seysdorf and Halsberg.

In these areas, Telekom wants to offer every resident the opportunity to install a fiber optic connection right up to the house free of charge.

However, since the remaining meters to the building are on private property, a declaration of consent must be signed between Telekom and the homeowner.

Markt Au is planning an information event on the subject of fiber optics

According to the exact schedule, the municipality will organize an information event in the Hopfenlandhalle in mid-2023, in which the Telekom speakers will present the details.

Anyone who would like to find out more in advance and register as an interested party can do so at www.telekom.de/glasfaser after entering their respective address.

The local manager made it clear that this was a great offer that would provide many Auer citizens with fiber optics free of charge.

The connection is normally estimated at around 800 euros, but is free of charge for pre-marketing.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

About the process: Telekom will lay the fiber optic cable in the ground on its own, using existing empty conduits in certain areas as well as in the area of Untere Hauptstraße that has just been renovated.

The preparatory work for this contractual implementation, which began a year and a half ago, was carried out by Helga Eisenmann as a clerk for digital matters in the Auer town hall.

There was a lot of praise for this from Mayor Hans Sailer.

What about the other districts, hamlets and wastelands?

And Eisenmann is coming up with more tough stuff.

Because it is still unclear: What will happen to the areas in the market that are currently not yet considered?

For example the places along the Abens, i.e. Sillertshausen, Hirnkirchen, Abens and Dellnhausen or Haslach, Günzenhausen and Reichertshausen?

And the numerous hamlets and wastelands?

There was also the all-clear on Wednesday, because the planning for this would already be underway, which should ideally take place at the same time as the other measure.

A separate tender for fiber optic expansion for the remaining areas will be issued shortly.

Positive according to the town hall: The municipality as client can count on a considerable amount of funding.

Negative: The amount of the costs for the expansion as well as the number of providers is in the stars, because the tender is to be open.

The Telekom representatives did not deny the question as to whether it would make sense for processing if the network in the entire area was in the hands of one person.

However, the final decision rests with the local council.
