Members of a group of relatives of the disappeared in Mexico climbed the monument in the country's capital known as the Estela de Luz and placed a banner against the militarization of the country.
The act was a form of protest against the ruling passed by the Chamber of Deputies and the Mexican Senate to allow the Ministry of Defense to take operational and administrative control of the National Guard.
