Al-Khanji Gallery of Fine Arts in Aleppo hosted an exhibition of photography by artist Rafah Al-Rifai entitled Memory of Places, which was held by the Directorate of Aleppo Culture, which includes 120 diverse heritage images.

The 3-day exhibition was accompanied by the signing of a book tattooed on the antique torso that talks about social and intellectual relations in our reality, allowing the reader to judge the results.

In a statement to SANA reporter, the artist Al-Rifai explained the importance of the close relationship of places with our memory, as there is a privacy and innuendo for each place we visit and we are affected by its surroundings, explaining that the aim of the exhibition is to recall the memories of the past and to recall the same feelings that may differ from one person to another when visiting the place or seeing its image.

As for her book A tattoo on the antique torso, she explained that it spans about 60 years and is considered a dialectical novel between four people and extracts typical social, moral and economic relations, explaining that it leaves the reader to see the missing curve during those years.

The head of the Union of Fine Artists in Aleppo, artist Nouran Jabakji, explained that the exhibition includes our heritage and the heritage of our ancestors, and embodies the old neighborhoods in the city of Maaloula, the birthplace of the artist Al-Rifai, in addition to her memories with her relatives, the architectural, handicraft, and clay works and the collectibles they used in their personal lives, such as windmill, weapons, fireplaces, accessories and others, considering that A comprehensive exhibition body the heritage of one of the authentic Syrian families.

The Director of Culture in Aleppo, Jaber Al-Sajour, said that the exhibition contains pictures from the Syrian and Aleppo environment from places visited by the artist Al-Rifai and was able to embody the Syrian heritage through photographing agricultural tools, cooking tools and decorations, which expresses the artist's insightful eye that depicts nature in a realistic way that goes back to the past and time.
