It was not clear until the weekend whether there was actually a first case of monkeypox in the Erding district.
Erding – The health department is waiting for the result of the PCR test.
This reports authority spokeswoman Claudia Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer on request.
As reported, the citizen, about whom the district office does not provide any information, had contact with a person infected with monkeypox and is showing symptoms.
The suspected case is in isolation, and it lasts significantly longer than with Corona: 21 days if there are no symptoms, according to the RKI.
For the district citizen, that means he has to isolate himself until all the crusts have fallen off and injuries to the skin have healed.
If you don't live alone, you should isolate yourself from your roommates.
The good news: the course of the disease is usually mild.
And there is a vaccine.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, monkeypox is a virus that originally jumped from animals to humans, as is the corona virus.
According to the RKI, the virus is now spreading primarily from person to person.
Prolonged close contact, for example through sexual intercourse, is required to pass on the pathogen.
The spread in Germany has been observed since May of this year.
As of Friday, the RKI is aware of more than 3,500 cases in all 16 federal states.
Mostly men are affected.
