With the participation of Syria, the sessions of the Education Transformation Summit continue in New York, which will continue until September 19, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The delegations of the participating countries in the summit, on its second day, entitled “Solutions”, discussed the proposed initiatives and solutions to improve education, as the meetings aim to provide a platform to mobilize support for launching or expanding the scope of initiatives related to the substantive work tracks of the summit, and alliances will be presented for action or initiatives that will contribute to transforming education.

The work of the second day included fifty simultaneous sessions in a number of halls that were selected after publishing a call for proposals from member states, international organizations, civil society organizations, networks, institutions, alliances, the private sector, youth, academics and initiatives of other partners.

These sessions dealt with a number of topics, including “qualitative and holistic approaches to digital transformation.. Reimagining education through digital transformation and partnerships.. the education transformation sector and broad support for refugee teachers.. A new vision for 2030 schools, and perceptions of healthier schools and generations.”

The sessions also discussed topics related to financing education and mechanisms to increase its percentage of the gross domestic product, while seeking to build partnerships and investments that benefit the educational process and the effects of economic systems on education, in addition to education and girls' health, and how to activate the role of youth and involve them in decision-making.

The sessions were accompanied by some activities, including the launch of the Connecting Education for People and Planets report... Schools 2030 is a new global movement to reimagine the roles of schools, youth and associations for the future of teachers, education and the teaching profession... and transform education through an approach to health on the planet.

During the participation of the members of the Syrian delegation in the sessions and events, the Syrian working paper was distributed to the interested youth participating in these events.

The discussions answered several questions, the most prominent of which are what are the solutions for transformation… What will you do to change education?… What are the courses of action to transform education and what is the need to transform education?

Participants also made suggestions regarding the intergenerational conversation from mobilization to solutions and the importance of inspiration for transforming education.

The Syrian delegation, headed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, Secretary of the National Committee for UNESCO, Dr. Nidal Hassan, and Director of Planning and International Cooperation Ghassan Shgari, in addition to a youth delegation that includes the CEO of the Syrian Trust for Development Shadi Al-Ashi and the President of the National Union of Syrian Students Dareen Suleiman, President of the Revolutionary Youth Union, Sumer Zaher, and the head of the Vanguards of the Baath Organization, Dr. Muhammad Ezzat Arabi Katbi.
