Amid a competitive atmosphere, the Republic Championship for freestyle wrestling and Romanian for men and boys concluded at Al-Assad Sports Hall in Aleppo today, with the participation of most provincial teams, in addition to the army and police authorities.
Al-Jaish Club topped the general ranking of men's freestyle wrestling teams with a total of 175 points, followed by the Idlib team in second place with 125 points, then the Lattakia team with 105 points, then the Aleppo team with 66 points.
In the youth category, Al-Jaish Club also topped the standings with 165 points, followed by the Damascus team with 130 points, then the Lattakia team with 95 points, and the Aleppo team with 81 points.
The Homs team topped the overall ranking of the teams in the Roman wrestling for youth with a total of 175 points, followed by the Police Club with 125 points, then the Aleppo team with 120 points, and then the Army Club with 110 points.
In the men’s category, the Homs team came first with a total of 165 points, followed by the Army Club with a total of 150 points, the Police Club with a total of 103 points, the Aleppo team with a total of 95 points, and the Lattakia team with a total of 85 points.
The head of the Wrestling Federation, Muhammad Nour El-Din Al-Ali, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the tournament was distinguished in terms of organization and arbitration, as the modern system of arbitration was relied on using a video screen on which matches were recorded, and it would be referred to in case of any objection to ensure the correct implementation of the movement, adding that the tournament showed promising raw materials and talents. It will be prepared in a later training camp with the aim of developing it technically and skillfully to support it in the upcoming foreign benefits.
A member of the Game Federation in Aleppo, Saleh Ghalia, pointed out that the tournament enjoyed great participation from various governorates, as well as remarkable skill levels, and some good talents emerged. It will be held in Egypt.
Aleppo national team coach Mahmoud Al-Waisi said that the distinguished results achieved by the team's players in the tournament are evidence of the development of the game and the expansion of the base of its practitioners, pointing out that the arbitration was good and there was no objection to its results.
A number of players who won the first places expressed their happiness at winning this tournament after the strong competitions they fought, expressing their readiness for the next year's tournaments and their eyes looking forward to shining medals in external forums.
It is noteworthy that the Arab and Club Championship for freestyle and Romanian wrestling for men will be held in October in Egypt.
