-- For more than 16 hours, prosecutors from the Special Team against Corruption in Power and agents from the National Police of Peru carried out a diligence in the Government Palace.

The action was ordered by the second National Appeals Chamber, in order to seize videos, footage and recordings from security cameras recorded in August this year, related to the alleged permanence in the presidential residence of Yenifer Paredes Navarro, sister-in-law of the president. Pedro Castillo and whom the president presented as his daughter during the presidential campaign, since he and his wife raised her from a young age.

Paredes Navarro is serving a 30-month preventive prison term for his alleged participation in a criminal organization to illegally benefit from the award of public works, according to the thesis of the Prosecutor's Office.

Both Paredes and his lawyer denied these accusations before a congressional commission and in court.

For his part, President Castillo's lawyer, Benji Espinoza, who participated in this diligence as part of the defense of the head of state, detailed on his Twitter account that "procedural acts are only valid and have legal validity within the framework of due process. Apart from that, they are completely null acts", pointing out, in addition, that in this case there is full nullity.

Shortly before, in his same Twitter account at the beginning of the procedure, he indicated that "the judges of a higher criminal chamber are not competent to order a measure against the Government Palace and the President of the Republic."

He adds in his tweet that the only competent body for this is the Supreme Court.

In statements after the diligence to TV Peru, the lawyer indicated that the diligence of the Prosecutor's Office had been carried out without any hindrance or disturbance.
