Prime Minister Yair Lapid will fly to New York on Monday evening to represent Israel at the UN General Assembly. Lapid is scheduled to speak at the assembly on Thursday afternoon (Israel time), and immediately after that he will return to Israel to attend the wedding of his son, Yoav, which will be held on Friday His stay in New York will be relatively short, lasting two and a half days.
Lapid's office tried to arrange a meeting for him with US President Joe Biden, but at this stage the schedules of the two personalities do not allow this, so it appears that the two will not meet. On the other hand, Lapid is expected to meet other world leaders: British Prime Minister Elizabeth Terras, the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres and possibly other leaders.
Lapid will meet for the first time the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan - another expression of the reconciliation process between the countries.
Lapid will meet with the heads of the main organizations of the Jewish communities in North America and will participate in the annual conference of the FIDF organization.

In his speech on Thursday to the General Assembly, Lapid is expected, like his predecessors, to devote a large part of his speech to a warning against Iran's international aggression and its nuclear program.
It is estimated that Lapid will call on the countries of the world to formulate an alternative strategy to contain Iran, in view of what appears to be a dead end in the talks on returning to the original nuclear agreement.
In addition, Lapid will probably express his worldview about Israel being a part of the western-liberal world.
