Hausham – The Agatharied hospital has received a grant of around 3.3 million euros for the expansion of digitization in everyday hospital work.

"We are strengthening the digitization of hospitals," says Bavaria's Health Minister Klaus Holetschek.

He presented representatives of the district hospital in Agatharied with a funding check for around 3.3 million euros for the expansion of digitization in everyday hospital life.

Bavaria's Health Minister Klaus Holetschek: Health data must be protected

“From digital documentation to digital medication management: Agatharied Hospital is driving digitalization forward in an exemplary manner.

We support it with funds from the hospital future fund.

Because digital processes in the clinics improve the quality of care and patient satisfaction,” said Holetschek.

The minister explained: “Digitalization offers great opportunities in hospitals.

It is not an end in itself, but makes a significant contribution to improving hospital processes.

This increases the quality of treatment, since more and better data is available, and optimizes patient safety.” In addition, documentation processes are accelerated – staff and data quality benefit from this.

An important project to improve IT security is also being funded in Agatharied:

The district hospital was granted a total of 3,283,500 million euros from the Hospital Future Fund (KHZF) for the five applications submitted.

"In addition to a project to promote IT security, the clinic's existing appointment and service management is being digitally expanded so that communication between doctors, departments and patients is accelerated and improved," it continues.

In addition, digital medication management will be expanded and a patient portal will be introduced, with which admission and treatment management as well as discharge and transfer management will be digitized.

In addition, the Agatharied Clinic is introducing digital care and treatment documentation.

The district hospital is already equipped with modern equipment and is efficient

The minister added: “The Agatharied Hospital is already a modern and efficient hospital.

With the funding, it will be digitized even further, so that patients are optimally accompanied during their stay.

The fact that the employees can digitally view the necessary data along the patient path during treatment increases the quality of patient care.

Digitization is therefore a boost for even better healthcare in Bavaria.”

A total of around 590 million euros are available in the KHZF for the Bavarian planned hospitals.

The federal share made available for the KHZF as part of the "Hospitals of the Future" program covers 70 percent of the eligible project costs.

The Free State of Bavaria will provide the additional required co-financing of 30 percent, i.e. a total of around 180 million euros.

"Drive digitization at the Bavarian clinics considerably"

Holetschek said: "With the funds from the hospital future fund, we are driving digitization at the Bavarian hospitals considerably.

I am pleased that the funding program was very well received.

The carriers have submitted more than 1400 applications.

The funding volume is thus exhausted.

One thing is clear: the Free State wants to make intensive use of the opportunities offered by digitization in the healthcare sector as well.”
