A man saw the suspect, a teacher by profession, allegedly committing sexual offenses on a 13-year-old minor in the playground in neighborhood A in Be'er Sheva and called the police.
Police arrived at the scene, investigated the incident, collected findings and the investigation was transferred to the youth department at Beer Sheva station.
The identity of the suspect, a resident of Be'er Sheva, was known, he was located and arrested a day after the incident and was brought before the Peace Court in the city.
As the investigation progressed, suspicions arose that the suspect had committed sexual offenses at school as well, the police turned to the Beer Sheva Magistrate's Court which objected to the publication of his name and the judge ordered him to release the suspect under restrictive conditions.
Against both decisions, the Israel Police filed an appeal to the district court in Beer Sheva. The district court in the city left the decision of release under restrictive conditions intact but allowed the publication of the suspect's details.
Inspector Yoni Descalo: "We are investigating an unusual and difficult incident. The vigilance of the responsible adult and the quick reporting led to the quick arrest of the suspect and their removal from the public space. We appeal to the public anyone who fears that one of their acquaintances has been harmed by the suspect to report to the police station or to the 100 hotline."
