Almost like during the holidays: huge traffic jams in Israel during the Tishrei holidays | Israel Hayom

We didn't really miss the huge queues in the terminal • The peak: on Thursday - 100 thousand passengers

After last month there was a relative relief in congestion in Israel, it seems that the heavy congestion that we have become accustomed to seeing during the holiday months is expected to return this week. Following a combination of several factors, many Israelis are expected to spend the holiday period overseas, and even break the records of passengers in the field.

During September, more than 2 million passengers are expected to pass through the airport, a little less than in August, but the real peak is expected to come this Thursday, September 22. According to estimates, during that day almost 100 thousand passengers will pass through it. Also the Wednesday before and Fridays are expected to be busy compared to the Wednesdays and Fridays we have seen since the beginning of September.

The reason for these loads is mainly the combination between the weekend and Rosh Hashanah, which allows for a relatively long vacation without taking days off.

From Thursday to Wednesday, many Israelis are expected to spend the holiday overseas despite the high flight prices.

Even a holiday, even a weekend

It is important to remember that the peak tourist season all over the world is in the months of July and August.

The end of September is considered a less popular season in most of the world, which causes hotel prices abroad to be relatively low compared to the peak of the summer season.

However, the prices of flights during Rosh Hashanah are very high and therefore many Israelis had to find themselves paying more than 1,000 dollars for flights to Paris and London, and 600-500 dollars for flights to nearby destinations that should be relatively cheap, such as Prague or Berlin.

The busy period in Israel is expected to continue at least until after Sukkot. Although the prices of flights are also very high during Sukkot, this holiday is also very convenient in terms of the days of the week, since the first holiday will be celebrated on Sunday, October 9. Thus, many Israelis will be able to take off on Thursday before the holiday and return only after the second holiday, which is noted on October 16.

Even in this case, the prices of hotels in the world are significantly lower than the prices at the peak of summer, so that those who manage to get a flight at a relatively affordable price, not an easy task in itself, will be able to enjoy a comfortable vacation without taking days off if their workplace does not work during Sukkot.

It is important to note that the weather in many European countries has already started to cool down and become rainy.

If you are planning a European vacation, take into account the changes in the weather and plan your vacation accordingly.
