Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter opens the Oktoberfest 2022 in the Schottenhamel tent.
The BR moderator next to him is obviously well prepared for this moment.
Munich - "O-zapft is!" Munich has its Wiesn back, and since this Saturday (September 17) there has been a proper celebration between Bavaria and Isarvorstadt.
And that after two years of Corona forced break.
Oktoberfest tapping in Schottenhamel: Mayor Dieter Reiter needs three strokes
The official start is always at 12 noon.
Dieter Reiter (SPD) is given the honor of tapping the Wiesn as mayor.
It took Reiter three shots in the Schottenhamel marquee before the cool, amber-colored beer found its way into the beer mugs.
The 64-year-old head of town hall was flanked by Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU).
The Franconian who works in Munich always emphasizes that he is not a beer drinker, preferring hops and malt to a light cola instead.
At the start of the Oktoberfest 2022, which was well received by the media, the 55-year-old head of state at least insisted on holding a beer mug in front of the TV cameras.
For example in the Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR).
The public broadcasters showed the Wiesn tapping live on TV and online in the live stream.
Reiter's blows into the spade wooden barrel were moderated by Michael Sporer, the 54-year-old TV presenter with roots in Wolfratshausen.
Edmund Stoiber and Dieter Reiter in Schottenhamel: Does the BR moderator not know the two politicians?
Sporer comes from the deepest part of Upper Bavaria south of Munich, idyllically situated on the Isar.
The small town is the home of former Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber (CSU).
So he should actually be familiar with politicians.
Or not?
An attentive Twitter user noticed at least one secret cheat sheet from Sporer.
The TV man had written the names of Reiter and Söder on the flat inside of his left hand.
Because he doesn't know her?
Or they, you don't want to think of it, can't tell them apart?
It was probably more about the order in which Sporer interviewed the two politicians.
On Saturday afternoon, Reiter repeatedly wished for “a friadliche Wiesn” (a peaceful Wiesn).
He and Sporer had already done the most important thing by this point when Reiter called into the BR man's microphone: "O'zapft is!"
