How do you explain the global fascination that the British monarchy still exerts in our digital and democratic times?

Firstly because not so long ago, the British monarchy reigned over an empire extending to the four corners of the world, since extended by the Commonwealth.
It is the only truly globalized monarchy.
Then because this monarchy since 1688 and its legitimization by the British Parliament has never been in contradiction with the power issued from the political majority.
There was neither a "socialist" coup d'etat nor a "fascist" dictatorship, in spite of Oswald Mosley, nor a break in the regime.
Part of the legitimacy of the Crown comes from its longevity, which appears as a guarantee of the longevity of the nation, notably that of the three great reigns of Elizabeth I, Victoria and Elizabeth II.
