DAB: The ASEAN foreign mission has achieved landmark results, increasing local people's confidence in Hong Kong's prospects

Earlier this month, the Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong (DAB) made three trips to Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The three groups of foreign delegations have participated in more than 50 meetings and activities. Party chairman Li Huiqiong described the visit as a "signature achievement".

The three groups of foreign delegations have participated in more than 50 meetings and activities. Party chairman Li Huiqiong described the visit as a "signature achievement" and explained to the local people in ASEAN the long-term implementation of "One Country, Two Systems" and the consolidation of Hong Kong's existing characteristics and advantages, increasing their understanding of Hong Kong's prospects and confidence as a super-connector.


The DAB will integrate the results and suggestions of the visit, and will meet with Chief Executive Li Jiachao on Tuesday (20th) to put forward the proposal to promote cooperation between Hong Kong and ASEAN countries.


The DAB said that it was the first time to set foot in ASEAN on a large scale. It successfully communicated with local business people and achieved many common visions. It also had the opportunity to "tell the Hong Kong story" to local people, so as to dispel local people's doubts and misunderstandings about Hong Kong's development.

Chen Hacken, vice chairman of the DAB in charge of leading the team to visit Vietnam and Thailand, said: "We compare the business data of the same family before 1997. The local business community has noticed that after the return of Hong Kong, the assets, the number of listed companies, etc. Wait, there has been great progress, and they have great confidence in the development of Hong Kong."

Ge Peifan, a member of the Legislative Council of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong who visited Indonesia, said that the local area is developing on a dual track of industrialization and electronicization. Although the local business is in its infancy, many Indonesian Hong Kong businessmen are optimistic about the local prospects. "Logistics is Hong Kong's strength, and local development requires logistics. Services, we can assist local development and introduce exchanges between the two sides.”

Referring to the talent competition between Singapore and Hong Kong, Li Huiqiong suggested that the Hong Kong government should enhance the level of cooperation with ASEAN, "The local business community believes that Hong Kong can help the local people cultivate talents.
