Storm Fiona is already a hurricane as it approaches south of Ponce, on the island of Puerto Rico, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC, in English).
The last bulletin indicates that it is about 50 miles from the coast.
The cyclone gained strength with winds reaching 80 miles per hour (mph), which is why strong storms and an increase in waves that could reach more than 15 feet are projected.

The most recent bulletin indicates that Fiona will continue to strengthen after passing over Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, where torrential rains will also begin tonight and tomorrow Monday.
