The market town of Wartenberg has to make savings at one point or another simply because of the difficult financial situation, that's a well-known fact.

The government has now - like all other communities - received a list of measures to save energy.

And everything will be implemented accordingly, as Mayor Christian Pröbst (CSU) promises.

Wartenberg – The public buildings are no longer illuminated at night, and the three churches are no longer illuminated either.

The room temperature in the town hall is reduced to 19 degrees, and there is no hot water in the toilet rooms.

The monitors are completely switched off after work, air conditioning stays off.

That was not a problem recently on the warmer days.

"We have a well-insulated house," says Pröbst.

According to him, in accordance with the directive from above, the windows are now being aired open instead of being left tilted.

The lighting in the office is reduced to the bare essentials.

And at school?

“There is no hot water in the toilets there either.

Otherwise, no savings will be made with the children, which the government has also ruled out,” says Pröbst.

The municipality was supposed to generate income through higher day-care center fees – as is well known, the most recent increase was hotly debated several times in the market council – and higher cemetery fees.

As Pröbst announced, that was the recommendation of an expert in regional auditing.

"He estimates our daycare fees far too low," said Pröbst in the market council.

There were no more discussions there, at least when the annual accounts for 2021 were approved, after previously hard-fought budget debates.

In addition, the council unanimously decided that the municipality would again subsidize five percent or a maximum of a good 24,500 euros of the costs for the renovation of the tower of the parish church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (we reported).

In addition, for the current year, she is paying an advance amount of a good 76,000 euros for the deficit in the daycare center in Josefsheim to its sponsor, the Seraphische Liebeswerk Altötting.
