Aware of the suggestive power that the liturgy exercises over subjects and faithful, the Vatican and the British crown have preserved it intact with the same formal rigor for centuries, since they are two churches, the Catholic and the Anglican, each with its own respective crowned head.

When one contemplates the phantasmagorical pomp that has been mounted with the death of Elizabeth II of England or attends a ceremony of the Pope surrounded by bishops and cardinals, wrapped in incense among the lavish marble of Saint Peter's in Rome, one may be unaware that he is being subjected to an optical illusion, to a trap.

These images still obey an empire that no longer exists and the representation on earth of an omnipotent God who has also vanished.

History has swept them away

but the liturgy as an expression of its ancient power remains unchanged down to the last detail, although only shadows remain below, nothing more.

The power of a Pope is based on the embroidered slippers, on the sacred garments threaded in gold that cover the passions and miseries of the body until reaching the head finished off with a Pharaonic miter.

Likewise, King Charles III of England would be nothing without the throne from which his buttocks will absorb a mysterious magnetic current.

All his instincts, including the most vulgar, will move under the different uniforms.

In fact, his real job is going to consist of changing his clothes 30 times a day, without anyone except an innocent child discovering that he is naked.

A wedding, a coronation,

a funeral are stellar moments that with these pomps still subject people to a collective hypnosis.

But it is a magnificent empty shell inside which characters move that are only real because they have the urgent need to go to the bathroom several times a day.
