Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Sadir Gabarov, and Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to prevent further escalation on the border between their countries.
Today, President Putin held telephone conversations with Gabarov and Rakhmon, during which the situation on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was discussed, the Kremlin press service said in a statement.
According to the statement, President Putin called on the two parties to prevent further escalation and to take measures to resolve the crisis situation as soon as possible by peaceful, political and diplomatic means.
The statement indicated that Putin affirmed Russia's readiness to provide the necessary assistance to ensure stability in the border region between the two countries.
