The 32 electoral centers scattered in the neighborhoods of Douma witnessed a remarkable turnout from the city's residents to elect their candidates for membership in the city and governorate councils.

The elections recorded a remarkable presence of the female component, as well as the attendance of the elderly and people with disabilities, as Kafa Idris, head of the electoral fund at Khawla Bint Al-Azwar School for the first session, confirmed in a statement to SANA reporter that the turnout was high, indicating that the women of her area were keen to contribute to the reconstruction of the city and hold on to hope. And life by proving their votes in these elections.

Omar Saleh, who came to the polling station leaning on his crutch despite his disability and advanced age, wished the winners to do their duty to the fullest because people gave them their votes and gave them confidence in all honesty and wanted them to preserve this trust by working to meet the needs of citizens.

The head of the electoral committee in the Douma city council, Adnan Seryul, described the turnout as high, which sends a message to everyone that our first option is to rise and build.

Muhyi al-Din al-Naasan, 65, in turn, wished the elected council to do its job in serving the citizens and the city, following up on its reform projects and strengthening cooperation with the people, considering that the improvement in the city’s reality that the people saw made them accept to participate by voting and electing trusted, qualified people.

As for the young woman, Safaa al-Naasan, she considered that her participation and similar women in Douma in the electoral process confirms that they are an active element and that their role in society has increased after the war.

The head of the electoral center in the city of Duma Nawras Musa Al-Nada spoke about the good turnout of citizens to vote to choose the candidate who achieves their ambitions according to their capabilities.

From the same center, Zuhair Naji and Rawaa Aboud, two members of the electoral committee, spoke about the importance of the wide participation of citizens, men and women, in an indication that the people of the city are shaking off the dust of war and want to elect a council capable of restoring the splendor to Douma as it was.

Lawyer Abdul Razzaq Al-Smadi believed that the electoral process produces the most suitable candidates, and that the work of these people on the ground and their interaction with their surroundings will make people accept their election, especially with regard to providing basic services and bringing people's voice to higher authorities.

As for the citizen Saeed Ahmed Obaid, who lost his limbs due to an illness, he came to the polling station through the tick he is working on to cast his vote and confirms that this is the duty of every Syrian citizen who wants to return to his homeland as it was before the war.

In Jaramana, in Damascus countryside, citizen Fadi Dabbous indicated that voting is a national duty, stressing the necessity of selecting young people who are able to achieve the goals we aspire to and convey and solve the citizens' concerns.

Abbas Baroud considered that the election is a right that we must exercise in order to express national belonging, stressing the need to seek to elect qualified people who work for the public interest and are far from personal interest.

Jaber Moussa pointed to the importance of the elections in strengthening national unity and working hard to build society, stressing the need to give our voice to the most qualified and worthy to work on developing and upgrading the local community at all levels.

Issam Brik considered that elections are a national duty and everyone must participate in them to choose who represents them and who is able to bear the responsibility, pointing out that he is counting on the youth because they have great ambition and are capable of change and development.
