Amid a remarkable turnout at the various electoral centers in Tartous governorate, the process of local administration council elections continues in the centers designated for them.
The head of the Judicial Subcommittee for Elections in Tartous Governorate, Judge Ghassan Asaad, said in a statement to reporters from the electoral center in the building of the General Authority of Al-Basel Hospital that after making sure that the boxes were empty and safe, in the presence of the Judicial Subcommittee and the Governor of Tartous, the administrative head of elections, and a number of candidates and their agents, they were locked and placed in the appropriate place. To begin the electoral process in all 762 centers of the province.
In turn, the head of the electoral center in the building of the General Authority of Al-Basel Hospital, Ali Issa, said in a statement to SANA reporter that, since the beginning of the electoral process, citizens have flocked to cast their votes to choose their candidates, noting that in each electoral center there is a committee composed of the head of the center and the membership of two people who receive citizens and register their names to go after that To the secret chamber to exercise their right to vote by choosing whomever they want for each of the city and governorate councils.
For his part, Tartous Governor Abdel Halim Awad Khalil drew attention to the importance of these elections, expressing his hope that voters will choose the best candidate capable of taking responsibility and serving citizens.
The voters stressed the importance of these elections, especially in the current stage, according to Youssef’s sincerity, while Maysoon Al-Hayek believed that it is necessary for everyone to participate in these elections, as it confirms the role of these councils in achieving local development, while Alaa Muhammad said that the message of the local administrative council elections today represents the true expression of freedom of opinion. The Syrian citizen Suhail Ibrahim considered that the basis for the success of these elections is participation first and the selection of the candidate best able to meet the aspirations of the voters and work for the public interest away from personal interests.
The electoral process started at seven in the morning in all the 762 electoral centers that were identified in the various regions distributed over the governorate’s area, in order to facilitate the citizens to exercise their electoral right. The number of candidates for the administrative units reached 1,876 candidates competing for 1,178 seats and the number of electoral districts is 105.
