Lots of rain and even more beer: the first Wiesn weekend is coming to an end.
Before Sunday evening there is the first balance – it is mixed.
Munich – The first Wiesn balance sheet, which relates primarily to the first Wiesn day on Saturday, September 17, this Sunday afternoon, is mixed in many respects.
Only the mood among the visitors was excellent, many describe it as euphoric.
No wonder: Oktoberfest fans had to wait two years for Europe's largest folk festival to take place again.
But there are not only positive things to report.

The start of Oktoberfest 2022 was comparatively quiet.
The main reason for this is probably the bad weather, it rained almost the entire day, and in the evening there were even stronger gusts of wind.
Many spontaneous people therefore stayed at home.

This number increased rapidly, especially during the course of the evening.
Almost every minute, women and men of all ages came to the outpatient clinic.
In the vast majority of cases, of course, excessive alcohol consumption was the reason.
One case in the early evening was particularly shocking: a man had physically attacked two paramedics and hit them.
He was taken away by the police.
In addition, a 37-year-old was arrested in the tent for sexual harassment.
Although not on the festival grounds, there is an incident in Schwabing that is related to the Wiesn.
A tourist was stabbed on his way home from Oktoberfest.

According to an initial estimate by the festival management, around 700,000 people visited the Theresienwiese on the first weekend.
For comparison: in 2019 there were one million visitors on the first weekend.
All in all, the organizers are happy about a successful start - only the weather should please get better, so the common consensus.

Overall, many families have already visited the Oktoberfest, and there are also more and more guests from France and the USA.
Otto Lindinger, spokesman for the small Oktoberfest tents, also noticed that the audience was a bit younger.
Not everything is the same when it comes to food either: Oktoberfest chicken is a hit again this year, but meatless dishes were also in demand.
