The Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabash, discussed with the Regional Director of the World Health Organization in the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, ways to enhance cooperation in the health field.
During the meeting, which was held today at the Ministry of Health, an explanation was given about the geographical distribution of the population in Syria and the effects of the terrorist war that it was exposed to and its impact on the health sector, in addition to an explanation of the reality of health institutions before and after the war, the health coverage rates of the ministry and indicators of chronic diseases.
Dr. Al-Ghubash stressed that the terrorist war imposed on Syria greatly affected the health sector, expressing the importance of receiving more sustainable support from the organization strategically, especially during the spread of epidemics and diseases, and cooperating more to achieve health security in Syria.
In turn, Dr. Al-Mandhari indicated that Syria faced many challenges and difficult conditions during the war and the fierce attacks on it, and that it was embracing high expertise and competencies, in addition to being one of the strongest health systems and training centers, pointing to the organization's readiness to work as a team with the Ministry and the permanent supporter to ensure the provision of the best health services.
The meeting was attended by the assistants of the Minister of Health, the acting representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, and a number of central and concerned managers from both sides.
