A sinkhole opens in Ayalon lanes (Walla system!)

Traffic jams and heavy traffic are expected this morning (Sunday) in the Tel Aviv area and Gush Dan.

This, following a series of road blocks and changes in public transportation due to the sinkhole that opened last night at the Peace Interchange.

The train traffic from the Hagana station to Savidor was returned to the series today at 5:00 am, after it was announced yesterday that it would be stopped.

The Ayalon routes from Gilil to the Peace Exchange were closed until further notice.

Changes also apply to train departure times, and bus lines.

The IDF also announced the change in arrival times to the bases this morning. Only soldiers whose presence is necessary will arrive in Kriya. Minister of Transportation Rav Michaeli Michaeli, who arrived at the scene last night, advised those who can "stay at home and avoid coming to Tel Aviv tomorrow."

According to a preliminary assessment by the Ayalon Routes Company, the hole was created as a result of the construction work on the Spiral Tower, the fourth tower of the Azrieli Company.

Officials at the Ayalon Roads Company estimate that the sinkhole was created as a result of drilling carried out at the construction site of the Azrieli Towers, which caused the water below the ground to flow towards the road and open the hole.

The Azrieli Group stated that "the case is under investigation. Professionals on our behalf and on behalf of the operating company, Solel Bona, are working and are in continuous contact with Ayalon routes on the matter."

The sinkhole opened hours before Shabbat, on two lanes at the HaShalom Interchange heading south.

The police and fire brigade blocked the road, and no injuries were reported in the incident.

The blockade is expected throughout the night, and in the morning a decision will be made according to the developments.
