US Oktoberfest: "Welcome to the Oktoberfest" - beer from plastic cups, duck dance and polonaise

There are several Oktoberfest variants in the USA.
In many respects it is not quite authentic (symbol image).

Oktoberfest in Munich – and in Oregon, USA.
There is also a Oktoberfest in Mount Angel – but it doesn’t quite match the original.
Munich / Mount Angel – The Oktoberfest has numerous copies all over the world.
China has one, even Dubai should have one.
However, most Oktoberfest copies can be found in the United States of America.
This is mainly due to the Germans themselves, who for a long time represented the largest immigrant group in the new world and brought their customs and festivals with them.
Hundreds of years ago, many Germans also settled in Oregon, in the north-west of the USA – and there is also an Oktoberfest there.

"Welcome to the Oktoberfest" can be seen at the end of a hall, while visitors drink beer and other alcoholic beverages from plastic cups, dance in a polonaise and listen to brass band music.

Every year (unless it's Corona), pictures of these scenes also migrate to Munich and elicit a smile from the local Wiesn connoisseurs.
Of course, the copies don't quite come close to the original.
Of course, this also has its positive sides - there will not be "beer corpses" every minute, nor will there be hundreds of thousands of visitors on the first weekend.

Wiesn in America - but Oktoberfest tourists from the USA in the majority
For many Americans too, the Wiesn in Munich still seems to be unique.
In an interview with
tz
, Markus Strobl, the press spokesman for the Aicher Ambulance, which runs the medical station on the festival site, says that there were already a lot of tourists on the first weekend.
"Most of them, you can clearly see that, come from the USA," says Strobl.
