Damascus Governorate begins installing 200 solar-powered lighting devices in the city's streets and squares

Damascus, SANA- The Damascus Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment, has started implementing the installation works of 200 lighting devices

Damascus Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment, began implementing the installation of 200 solar-powered lighting devices in a number of regions as part of its plan to rely on alternative energy to light the city's streets.

Director of Lighting and Electricity in the governorate, Engineer Wissam Muhammad Bin, told SANA that the workshops began with the work of digging the bases for the installation of poles for 200 lighting devices in areas that will include public squares, in front of the Hamidiya market, the castle, Barzeh housing and the extension of Al-Thawra Street, noting that these devices are the second batch received by the governorate. From the Ministry of Administration to be installed after the installation of the first batch of 260 devices.

Muhammad explained that the Directorate’s workshops carried out, during the past week, the installation of 14 solar-powered lighting devices, including 8 on the main street in front of Yalbgha and 6 in Al-Abbas Street in Barzeh residences, in addition to carrying out maintenance work for lighting devices in the Abbasid Tunnel, isolating tunnel containers in the city, and maintaining all existing pumps.

At the beginning of the year, the Damascus Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Administration, installed 260 solar-powered lighting devices with their poles in the areas of the President Bridge and the Mazzeh Jabal roundabout towards the Language Institute Road and Sheikh Saad towards the Mazzeh 86 entrance and in the foot towards the Al-Midan Gate (the Gate Roundabout) and Al-Ashmar Roundabout and from it To the camp roundabout towards the solidarity entrance.
