An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 hit Mexico City this evening (Monday), causing the evacuation of many buildings in the center of the huge city and the panic of the responders.
Surfers on social networks documented buildings shaking and thousands of people exiting skyscrapers in the center of the capital.
No significant damage or casualties are known at this stage.
The earthquake comes on the anniversary of two previous, deadly earthquakes that occurred in the Mexican capital in 1985 and 2017.
In 1985, more than 9,000 people were killed and it is probably the deadliest earthquake in the country's history.
The United States Tsunami Forecast Service warned of tsunami waves up to three meters above high tide on some Mexican coasts and much smaller waves on the coast of Colombia.
