In order to take care of the physical and mental health of patients and caregivers, the theme of Hang Lung's National Anniversary Volunteer Day this year is "Diversity and Inclusion - Caring for the Elderly". The volunteer team and a group of elderly people with dementia and their caregivers went to outlying islands to conduct five senses Experience the "Senior" experience, away from the hustle and bustle, into the natural environment, and have a journey of physical and mental healing.

This year is also the 10th anniversary of the Hang Lung One Heart Volunteer Team. A total of 12 volunteer teams across the country have provided warmth for the elderly in different ways.

On September 17, Hang Lung Properties CEO Lu Weber led 100 volunteers to the Hong Kong YWCA Leung Siu Wing Resort on Lantau Island to participate in the "Senior" experience with five senses.

The activities not only stimulate the different senses of the elderly, but also allow the elderly and caregivers to create more precious memories, killing two birds with one stone.

The experience is divided into three parts: forest healing, making earth kiln pancakes and making tree board paintings. Under the guidance of the instructor, the elderly slow down in the forest healing, and use hearing, touch and smell to experience the fragrance of flowers and plants, the sounds of birds and insects, and the texture of the grass. , to relax and relieve stress; making earth-kiln pancakes starts with kneading the crust, then add fillings, herbs, etc. according to personal preferences, enjoy the fun of baking, and share the sweetness and taste together; elders and caregivers can also pick together Favorite flowers, or pick up leaves, branches, etc., to make a unique tree board painting together.

In addition to the "Senior" experience with five senses, the volunteer team also prepared 1,000 "Five Senses Treasure Boxes", which, together with various non-profit organizations, will be donated to the needy patients and caregivers with cognitive impairment in the community, so that they can use it at home. Materials that stimulate the five senses are used for simple training to slow down the rate of brain degeneration. In addition to the "senior" experience with the five senses, some volunteers visit the frail elderly living in Tai O to care about their physical and mental health.

Hang Lung holds an annual volunteer day in September every year. The service scope is not limited to Hong Kong, but also cooperates with the Hang Lung Yixin Volunteer Team in Shanghai, Shenyang, Jinan, Wuxi, Tianjin, Dalian, Kunming, Wuhan and Hangzhou, and local government departments, tenants and social media. We cooperate with welfare organizations to assist disadvantaged groups in need, such as the elderly living alone, chronically ill, and grassroots elderly, in different forms of activities.

The volunteer team will provide free scissors for the elderly, visit residential care homes for the elderly and distribute gift packs, and hold handmade workshops, etc., to take care of the elderly and raise the public's attention to the living conditions and needs of the elderly.

More than 1,200 volunteers participated in this year's event, benefiting nearly 5,500 elderly people.

Under the leadership of the management, volunteers from Shanghai Plaza 66 and Shanghai Grand 66 Plaza, together with free hair stylists, provided free cutting services for the elderly with dementia in the nursing home.

Hangzhou 66 Plaza and Tianjin 66 Plaza have arranged for volunteers to visit their homes and send gifts of love to the elderly.

Since its establishment ten years ago, the Hang Lung One Heart Volunteer Team has actively cooperated with various community groups and charities to provide care and support to the community.

12 volunteer teams in different parts of the country will focus on various volunteer services such as diversity and inclusion, caring for the elderly, youth education and development, and environmental protection according to the needs of local communities. 112,000 hours.
