The hoteliers in the district of Erding are very satisfied with the summer season.

Even now, the houses are well occupied - thanks to the Wiesn.

Erding

– After a forced two-year break, the motto at the Oktoberfest on Saturday was “O'zapft is!”.

On average, more than six million people visit the world's largest folk festival.

In Munich there will be a state of emergency in the next two weeks, because not only the festival tents will be full, but also the hostels.

Those who can no longer get a hotel room in Munich then move to the surrounding area.

In the district of Erding, too, many a heavy Wiesn main is bedded.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.)

At the Best Western Parkhotel am Bahnhof, we look forward to the Oktoberfest guests.

"The team thinks it's great that the house is full again," says Tamara Staudinger, who joined the management of the family business a few weeks ago.

The summer went happily well, "you can tell that people want to travel again".

The house was full at the Erdinger Herbstfest, and there were also more visitors to the fair.

With the trade fair surcharges on the room price that are customary in the industry, the Oktoberfest in the Best Western at the train station does not play an extra role, here, for example, a single room costs 38 euros more than when there was no trade fair.

A few rooms would still have been available when we called the local newspaper.

"But they should be fully booked in the coming days," says Staudinger.

For her, a full house has a pleasant side effect: "Here you can see how the team works together and have the opportunity to optimize individual processes.

This is also positive for the employees.”

Margit Aschenbrenner from the Hotel Apfelbaum near the thermal baths confirms that the past few months have gone well.

After the lean period, the summer went "bombastic": "We were extremely satisfied with the occupancy rate." Due to the staggered holidays of the federal states, the guests were able to take turns.

While during the holiday season it was mainly spa guests, now there are more trade fair visitors and business people, and the rooms are well booked.

"You only notice which guests want to go to the Wiesn when you see them in a dirndl or lederhosen," jokes Aschenbrenner.

There is also a trade fair price in the apple tree, but it would certainly be competitive with Munich.

It is an advantage that it is easier to get to Munich from Erding than to be stuck in traffic within Munich.

Word hasn't gotten around that well, however.

However, this does not apply to Isen in the east of the district.

"We rarely have Oktoberfest guests," explains Thomas Klement from the inn of the same name.

The taxi ride from Munich to Isen is quite expensive.

Nevertheless, the innkeepers feel the Wiesn in the bookings: "We are now seeing more and more tradesmen who can no longer get accommodation in Munich because of the festival," explains Klement.

The Isener Gasthof was also well booked recently, in addition to trade fair visitors and craftsmen, most recently it was mainly holidaymakers passing through.

While the hotel is doing well, the landlord sees problems in the catering trade.

Although the room guests stay in the house for dinner in the evening, Klement feels a drop in social gatherings and family celebrations.

"You can tell that people are starting to save."

The Hotel Victory at the Therme Erding is a popular choice for Wiesn visitors.

"You can tell that the guests come because of the Oktoberfest and combine it with a visit to the thermal baths," says company spokesman Marcus Maier.

The first visitors from Italy are already there.

Since there are still trade fair guests, the house was recently fully booked.

As of today, "a few rooms will be free again, then we'll be at about 90 percent," says Maier.

Incidentally, the house does not require a trade fair surcharge.

As far as occupancy is concerned this year, this is in line with the experiences of other accommodations.

After a somewhat hesitant start, the year from April onwards was “excellent”, and August was the best month in the hotel's history.

But Maier is also excited about the future.

"Who knows what's in store for us now with energy prices."

August went "very well", agrees Thorsten Kahl, Deputy Director of the Best Western Hotel Munich Airport.

The house is currently well attended, but not fully booked.

"We're not the classic Oktoberfest hotel either," says Kahl.

Visitors come when the hotels in Munich are too expensive for them or are already full.

The prices are now a little higher than normal, but the premium is not comparable to strong trade fairs.

The fact that the hotel has been doing well again in recent months is also thanks to the good cooperation with Lufthansa: the hotel accommodates passengers who have been stranded at the airport for various reasons.
