In the leisure club, everyone pulls together

Sociability was and is very important in the Hattenhofen leisure club.
A number of excursions were organized - and some fun, such as tug of war.

In the beginning there was a fight.
Because they were not satisfied with an increase in contributions, 80 members left SV Haspelmoor - and without further ado founded a new club: the Hattenhofen leisure club.
In the meantime, every tenth Hattenhofener is a member there - and yet the club is plagued by worries about young people.
Hattenhofen – 26 women founded the leisure club on November 30, 1977.
Before that they had belonged to the women's gymnastics department of the Haspelmoor sports club.
But they wanted their own sports club that corresponded to their ideas – also in terms of contributions.
The new offer should be implemented with volunteer trainers.
Eight of the 26 founders are still with us.
Today the leisure club has around 300 members - Hattenhofen has almost 3000 inhabitants.
Ida Eiban (chair), Edith Mühlthaler (vice) and Maria Kistler (3rd chair and treasurer) initially ran the business.
Within a few weeks, 75 athletes were already registered.
They met on Mondays in the community gymnasium for gymnastics and ball games.
Founded by women, open to men
After less than a year, the club opened for men.
At the request of several "gentlemen" a gymnastics group was founded.
She also always ended her practice session with ball games, primarily fistball and volleyball.
After training, men and women met in the Casella, which the members quickly made their club home.
Sociability was and is very important in the leisure club.
Two day trips a year with an average of 50 participants provided numerous experiences for over 40 years, which still offer a lot to talk about at get-togethers today.
"In the summer we went hiking, in the winter we went skiing," says Jürgen Schneller, chairman of the leisure club since 2007.
In 2011, the excursions were over: "The competition from the other local clubs was too great," explains Christina "Christa" Walter, who has been vice chairwoman since 2007.
The Christmas party at Casella is also history.
"The effort was no longer worth it," says Schneller.
Interest has waned over the years.
"It became less and less."
uncertain future
The year 2007 was a major turning point. At that time, the leisure club was about to be dissolved.
Ludwig Eiban resigned after 25 years as chairman.
Maria Kistler was no longer available after 30 years as 3rd Chairwoman and Treasurer.
But fortunately a new management team was found: Jürgen Schneller, Christa Walter and Maria Merkl took over.
Out of Stockschützen after 38 years
For 38 years there was a stock shooter department in the leisure club.
This was founded in 1980.
Six years later, women also played there.
Recreational, cup and championship tournaments were held, a hut was built and a facility was expanded from one to five lanes with the stock shooters of SV Haspelmoor.
The recreational stick shooters even played in the district league for a while.

This department came to an end in 2018 because there were no offspring.
There are also fewer and fewer participants in women's gymnastics, reports Christa Walter from the management team: "We would be very happy if there were more participants." One is open to new suggestions.
Interested parties who would like to get involved as trainers or officials are also welcome.
In the end, only one volleyball team remained from the men's gymnastics group.
In addition, around 20 young mothers meet with their children for a sports and play group, in which fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers can also take part.
They accompany the little ones in finger play to the movement song, somersault and trampoline jumping.
