Prime Minister Yair Lapid's office announced today (Monday) that "Israel believes that it is possible and necessary to reach an agreement on the maritime line between Lebanon and Israel in a way that will serve the interests of the citizens of both countries."

The bureau added that an agreement with Lebanon would contribute greatly and benefit regional stability.

Also, the bureau said that gas production from the Harish rig will begin as a series, and is not related to the negotiations between the two countries.

"The rig will start producing gas without delays as soon as it is possible," the bureau announced.

Finally, the Prime Minister's Office thanked the American mediator "for his hard work in trying to reach an agreement"

Last week, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said that if the leader of Hezbollah tries to sabotage the negotiation talks on the maritime border, through an attack on the "Shark" rig, the entire state of Lebanon will pay the price.

"If Nasrallah wants to try to hit Asda, he is welcome to do so, but the price will be Lebanon," Gantz said at the Institute for Counter-Terrorism Policy conference in Herzliya.
