Because of the severe energy crisis in Europe, FDP leader Christian Lindner has called for "clear planning security" up to 2024 for coal-fired power plants and the continued operation of nuclear power plants.
The question is whether Germany wants to do without even one kilowatt hour in this situation, said Linder on Monday in Berlin on the sidelines of a committee meeting.
Apparently addressed to the Green coalition partner, he called for party-political sensitivities to be put aside.
"We have to get to the root of the problem," said Lindner.
"We need these power plants in the European electricity supply."
The party chairman said that the economic development was causing great concern.
Many healthy companies have to fear that insolvency is imminent or that they will not receive another contract for the energy supply.
"We must now avert damage to our economic substance," demanded Lindner.
Further steps are necessary: For medium-sized companies, trade and industry, solvency must be ensured with programs to provide liquidity.
The energy cost containment program has not yet developed “any practical traction”.
In addition, additional burdens on the economy must be prevented.
Lindner called for a “burden stop” that must include a moratorium on additional burdensome bureaucracy.
