A magnitude 7.5 earthquake hit the coast of La Placita de Morelos in western Mexico this evening (Monday), the United States Geological Survey said.
Eyewitnesses who were found at the scene reported that they saw some of the buildings in the city shaking.
Also, the United States warned the residents of the city of the possibility of a tsunami.
The earthquake struck 46 km southeast of Placita Te Morales in the Mexican state of Michoacán, and was at a depth of 10 km.
The United States also added that in the event of a tsunami, there is a chance that it will occur near the shores of Michoacán.
Earlier this month, 46 people were killed in a 6.8 magnitude earthquake in China.
