opened the doors at the Wirtefest.

There was a lot going on in the bars in Wolfratshausen.

Wolfratshausen – What a brilliant start for the new Rat.Haus.Café.: The completely renovated café and bistro by Hans-Joachim and Michaela Kunstmann opened on Saturday evening with a Spanish fiesta just in time for the Wirtefest.

Lots of people of all ages were out and about in Wolfratshausen on the rainy evening.

And many, many of them got a personal impression of the new location in the old town – which our newspaper visited as an example at the Wirtefest.

At 2 p.m. the Kunstmanns unlock the former town hall café, most recently Café Streicher.

The first curious people can enjoy plum datchi, mango cheesecake, prince regent cake or panna cotta with fruit.

Meanwhile, the project manager in the Kunstmann team, Michael Scholz, and the technical manager, Michael Räß, are preparing the paella for the evening in the giant cast-iron pan in the inner courtyard of the town hall.

They fry five kilos of gambas and seafood and four kilos of mussels in olive oil.

Then peppers, onions, peas, rice and saffron are added while stirring constantly.

Wolfratshausen: Rat.Haus.Café opens with paella and vegetable skewers

Scholz ran a tapas restaurant in Munich for ten years and worked as a chef in Andalusia for ten years before Hans-Joachim Kunstmann hired him.

In addition to the Spanish national dish, paella, the chef will serve chicken and vegetable skewers and cold appetizer platters with Serrano ham, Manchego cheese, olives and tomatoes with homemade baguettes at the Wirtefest.

In addition wine and cocktails or – if you like it Bavarian – Tegernseer beer.

Wirtefest: Many visitors wander from restaurant to restaurant

"Wow, how generous it seems here now," say Günter Schamberger from Dorfen and his companion when entering the guest room.

This is due to the exposed, high ceiling with the chandeliers and the minimalist furnishings.

A long, continuous bench on the long side of the bar, wooden tables and chairs, carefully used decoration and a few green plants in metal stands give the once plush coffee house a modern flair.

"Something was missing in the old rafting town of Wolfratshausen.

It's a meeting place for young people," enthuses Schamberger - even if he's not that young anymore.

Live music and dancing: Wirtefest in Wolfratshausen offers a colorful mix of all styles

The audience in the evening is mixed.

Young people in small groups, couples, parents with children and older students sit at the tables if they have reservations or are lucky - or they chat at the standing tables.

Some even take a seat on the outdoor beer benches despite the single-digit temperatures.

In the entrance area, Alejandra Marini, an Argentinian artist from Wolfratshausen, and Manuel Ragué from Andalusia provide music with rumba, flamenco and pop sounds, accompanied by guitar and maracas for a Mediterranean holiday feeling.

A number of guests feel encouraged to shake a leg with the musicians.

The later the evening, the more exuberant the atmosphere.

Shuttle bus from pub to pub: host festival in Wolfratshausen is well attended despite the rain

On their tour of the inns, the Jankovic family also stops at the Rat.Haus.Café.

Ranko Jankovic is a big fan of the Wirtefest, as he says.

In 2018 and 2019 he drove the shuttle vintage bus that took visitors from event to event.

Wolfratshauser, who comes from Montenegro, says that he and his wife Bettina and daughter Masa ate a little something while listening to live Italian music at La Bottega on Untermarkt.

After flamenco and caipirinha, he now wants to go to the Flößerei inn to listen to “Alpen-Pop” by the Gaudibox group.

Rathauscafe opens at Wirtefest - the Zeppelin Bar closes

It's a coming and going.

Most visitors stay an hour or a little longer in the new meeting place on the Loisachufer and then move on.

"Everyone is totally relaxed," says waitress Alexandra Vögtle.

There is nothing wrong with the service either.

The drinks are brought quickly.

Outside at the paella pan, Michael Scholz fills the wooden bowl to the brim.

"It's hard for me to leave here because the atmosphere is just great," says Beate Köhler, who rocks along to the Latin American melodies with a glass of Prosecco in hand.

But the Cabana and the Zeppelin Bar, which, as reported, will say goodbye to Wolfratshausen's nightlife this Saturday evening, are still on their list.

"Everyone wants to party": Wirtefest in Wolfratshausen is a crowd puller

Hans-Joachim Kunstmann, entrepreneur and chairman of the advertising group in Wolfratshausen, would of course be happy if the opening event left a good impression on many people.

The experienced restaurateur later said: "From my point of view, it could not have gone better."

It was also lively in the other bars, taverns and in the La Vida youth center.

"Everyone is in the mood for a party again," summarized the young Wirtefest visitors Steffi and Oliver Rilk, Florian Hartmann and Steffi Jung from Wolfratshausen and Eurasburg.
