Palestinian Education Minister Marwan Awartani called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the Israeli occupation's attacks on students, teachers and educational institutions in Palestine.
Wafa news agency quoted Awartani as saying in statements today on the sidelines of the Education Transformation Summit currently being held in New York that the occupation is waging a systematic war on Palestinian schools, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem, in an attempt to Judaize education and falsify history. The occupation’s attacks on education, which is one of the most prominent components of the Palestinian national identity.
Awartani pointed out that the occupation continues to destroy the infrastructure of Palestinian schools and restrict the freedom of students and teachers to access educational places, wondering how it is possible to talk about educational technologies and digitization at a time when the occupation authorities control all Palestinian resources and prevent Palestinians from developing the communication infrastructure.
Awartani pointed out that despite all the obstacles caused by the occupation, Palestine continues to develop its educational system in line with international standards and the needs of society.
