Puppies are cute to look at, but they can also get on your last nerve.

To avoid problems later, you should teach them these commands.

“There are no bad dogs, only bad training” is the motto of dog training.

Some breeds may be easier to train than others, but every dog needs discipline and the right amount of training to make it easier for humans and animals to live together - and, if in doubt, to avoid danger.

Dog owners should start training when they are puppies.

Because no matter how cute the little four-legged friends may be, if you let them dance on your nose, they will become full-grown dogs that are difficult to re-educate.

Also, dogs learn faster the younger they are and can be trained as soon as they can walk.

You should teach your dog these dog commands as a puppy.

1st seat

As the name suggests, the "sit" command is used to get the dog to sit down.

To train your puppy to do this, you can work with a treat.

Show him the treat and wait for him to notice and start reaching for it.

Then hold it over his head in such a way that the puppy has to sit down to keep seeing it.

Then say the command "sit" and give him the treat.

If you train this sequence regularly, the dog will understand that "sit" means "sit down and get a treat."

2nd place

With the command "down" the dog lies down on the ground and this trick can also be trained with a treat.

Show the puppy the treat, then hold it with your hand just off the ground.

To reach it, the dog will lie down.

Once he does, give him the command "Down" and give him the reward.

Dog language: Does my animal like me?

This is how dogs show their love

Does your dog literally freak out with joy when he sees you?

Then that's a sign that he's incredibly excited to see you again.

Jumping up, tail wagging, squeaking, barking, and licking also speak to true love and joy at being back.

Licking is not only a token of love when greeting.

Usually he also wants to express his affection in between.

But he doesn't just show his love with it, your four-legged friend also wants to take care of you in this way.

Dogs learn licking from their mother when they are puppies for exactly the same reasons.

Dogs only want close physical contact with those they really like.

So if your dog likes to snuggle up to you, that's a token of love.

Dogs that lean into their owners love their human.

The gesture shows trust.

If he does this even in frightening situations, your four-legged friend will feel safe with you.

Does your dog bring you his favorite toy?

If so, consider yourself lucky.

Because he certainly only shares that with those he really likes.

It's a very special proof of love when he gives and presents it to you without even asking you to play.

Does your dog approach you when you are sad?

With his fine instincts, he usually senses your bad mood immediately and wants to help you.

There is probably no greater proof of love.

If your dog is scared and seeks protection from you, it will usually look up to see how you are reacting.

Most of the time, however, a dog will only do this if it knows that you have such situations under control.

A huge vote of confidence towards you.

The dog's affection is also shown by the fact that he likes to sleep near you.

And if you don't necessarily want to share the bed with your four-legged friend, you can put a basket near it.

In this way you can be sure to make your four-legged friend happy.

3. Come/Heel

A command such as "Come," "Here," or "Heel" is more difficult to train but extremely important in dog training because it can call the dog back in dangerous situations -- for example, when chasing a cat into an unfamiliar neighborhood in the United States want to walk in traffic, want to say hello to another dog or a child.

For this command, you should sit a few feet away from your dog and happily call him by his name and the command.

You can also entice him with a treat.

When he comes, give it to him and reward him with cuddles.

This exercise is practiced at increasingly greater spatial distances, and eventually when you are out of the dog's sight.

But: Be patient, the command is not easy for puppies.

4. No/Off

Equally important is a command such as "No" or "Off" that makes it clear to the dog that it is not allowed to do something.

If he exhibits unwanted behavior, such as jumping on the couch or chewing on a shoe, say "no" loudly and firmly and stop his behavior.

If you do this every time the dog does something forbidden, he will quickly learn that the command "no" means that he should stop what he is doing.

5. Let

In combination with "No", the puppy can also learn "Let" by placing a treat within their reach, saying "Let" and making a loud ringing noise when they want to go towards the treat.

If he really doesn't touch the treat, give him one as a reward.

It is important that the dog sees that he is getting a different treat than what he should have left lying around.

6. stay

A dog can only learn the “Stay” command if it already knows and has mastered the previous commands.

Tell the puppy to "sit" and "down," then pause for a moment before saying the command "stay."

If the dog has waited patiently, it will be rewarded with a treat.

Support for hand signal and clicker commands

If you want to rely on more than commands, you can also teach your dog that certain hand signals correspond to certain commands.

For example, if your dog sees you raise your index finger for the command "sit," point your palm for "stay," or point your feet for "heel," then your puppy will quickly learn that these hand signals are also commands .

And if you don't want to spoil your dog too much with treats, you can replace them with a clicker at some point.

The device makes a high-pitched clicking noise when you press it, which is best heard when the dog is eating a treat because it has done something right.

The dog will soon realize that the click means that he has done something well.
