The Shin Bet announced today (Monday) that it uncovered a Hamas infrastructure that operated in the Nablus and Hebron area, and planned to carry out attacks in Israel. Seven terrorist operatives were arrested and taken for questioning, from which it emerged that they were recruited on social media by a resident of the Gaza Strip, Yahya Amer Muhammad Abu Saifan, a Hamas operative who Recruiting young people and inciting online.
Those arrested are Mas'ab Hemoni, Ahmed Abu Daoud, Ezz Al-Din Elzin, Emad Abu Khalaf and Abdullah Quasma from Hebron, and Mamon Hanani and Kamal Hanani from Kfar Beit Furik near Nablus. The activists received training from Abu Saifan in the production of explosive charges and instructions for carrying out attacks.
It also emerged from the investigations that the activists were recruited to carry out shooting and bomb attacks, received funds, with which they purchased materials and conducted experiments.
During the investigations, weapons that were in the possession of the detainees were located, among other things, various materials and means for the preparation of explosives and weapons that were supposed to be used for attacks on several plots were seized.
Indictments have been submitted to the military court against most of the suspects, accusing them of serious security offenses, and additional indictments will be submitted in the near future.
"These arrests and investigations reveal, once again, the continuous efforts to direct the activities of Hamas operatives from the Gaza Strip and abroad, whose goal is to destabilize the Judea and Samaria region and raise the level of violence on the ground, while recruiting terrorist operatives in order to promote attacks," said the Shev. C. "We will continue to act to thwart attempts by Hamas elements in the Gaza Strip to promote terrorist activity against the State of Israel."
