Suspicion: Criminals took over a poultry slaughter plant and sold millions of poultry in an uncontrolled manner (Israel Police Spokesperson)
Six residents of the north were arrested today (Monday) and another six were detained for questioning, following suspicion of operating a poultry slaughterhouse without veterinary supervision and under the auspices of a criminal organization.
According to the suspicion, the slaughterhouse operated for several years slaughtering poultry in a quantity significantly larger than the permit, and the meat made its way to supermarkets and consumers with a health hazard.
In addition, there is concern that the revenues from the sale of surplus poultry that are not reported to the tax authorities are estimated at tens of millions of shekels each year.
During the operation against the suspects, nine private vehicles, 11 trucks and operational vehicles and half a million shekels in cash were seized.

The offenses attributed to some of the suspects are receiving something fraudulently under aggravating circumstances, forgery under aggravating circumstances, giving and receiving bribes, violations of the law prohibiting money laundering and selling adulterated food.
The police intend, together with the enforcement agencies, to act to close the slaughterhouse and the businesses involved in the commission of the crimes.
In 2013 there was a serious case of animal abuse in Kiryat.
A Zoglovac truck transporting poultry on its way to slaughter was involved in a traffic accident on the Kiryat bypass road, which resulted in its overturning and the cages falling onto the road.
As a result of the fall, the birds scattered everywhere, some of them injured.

"I never got to see an area that was bombed from the air or a scene of a massacre, but this was the closest to it," says Liron, a vegan who independently participates in activities for the sake of animals, who arrived at the area of the accident after being notified about it.
"The cages are upside down on the road, frightened turkeys are lying one on top of the other's crushed body. The fear is evident on them. Rooster on rooster, living on dead on dying," he describes.
Policemen who arrived at the scene stopped the traffic, so they asked Yaron and another girl who was with him to try to save the injured birds and take them to the vet.
"The police didn't understand which vet we were talking about," he recalls.
"They said that the birds are intended for slaughter."
Afterwards, according to Liron, Zoglubek's truck driver and contractor workers who were with him lost their patience in front of a vegan girl who was standing in the arena and started screaming and cursing.
