The Israel Police announced this morning (Monday) an activity in the north in which they raided a poultry slaughterhouse that sold meat without veterinary supervision - it is suspected that the slaughterhouse was taken over by criminals affiliated with a crime organization in Arab society.

As mentioned, the investigation dealt with a slaughterhouse in the northern region that operated for several years in slaughtering poultry in a significantly larger quantity than the permit given to it, contrary to the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Health.

According to the suspicion, in the slaughterhouse belonging to a 52-year-old resident of Deir al-Assad, excess slaughter of millions of poultry is carried out every year without veterinary supervision under the auspices of a criminal organization, when the meat makes its way to the consumer public and supermarkets with a health hazard, in addition to harming the competition in poultry prices.

The revenue from the sale of excess poultry that is not reported to the tax authorities is estimated at tens of millions of shekels each year.

It was also suspected that the poultry breeders and the supervising veterinarian on behalf of the corporation are cooperating with the slaughterhouse, by shipping millions of poultry from the breeders directly to the slaughterhouse without documentation or supervision.

This morning, the Yalakh police officers, together with MGB soldiers and policemen from the northern district, raided the slaughterhouse and the houses of the suspects, during the operation nine private vehicles, 11 trucks and operational vehicles and half a million shekels in cash were seized.

Six suspects were arrested and six more were detained.

The offenses attributed to some of the suspects are receiving something fraudulently under aggravating circumstances, forgery under aggravating circumstances, giving and receiving bribes, violations of the law prohibiting money laundering and selling adulterated food.
