The Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, discussed today with his Emirati counterpart, Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, the strengthening of educational cooperation relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Education Transformation Summit currently being held in New York, the Minister reviewed the nature of the historical relations between the two countries by sending teachers and teachers to the United Arab Emirates to teach.

Minister Tabbaa indicated that the war on Syria led to the withdrawal of nearly 8,000 schools from service, but education did not stop for a day by accommodating all children of school age, as free textbooks for grades from the first to ninth and semi-free for the secondary stage are secured. In addition to securing administrative and teaching frameworks by hiring 15 thousand undersecretary teachers in 2020 and 42 thousand specialization teachers in 2021-2022 to fill the shortage in preparing teachers and teachers, and the required number of administrative development competition will be completed this year.

Minister Tabbaa affirmed that the government provides education to all children without exception and in any region.

Minister Tabbaa suggested the possibility of establishing a joint Syrian-Emirati school in Syria that would be a model for Arab-Arab cooperation that could teach Syrian and Emirati students and the teaching staff would participate in it, in addition to the possibility of using one of the education complexes in Damascus countryside to be like other international schools operating in Syria.

Minister Tabaa reviewed the active participation of the Syrians in the competition for the best teacher in the Arab world, which is held by the UAE, and the participation in the Reading Challenge competition held by the UAE Ministry of Education. And securing Arabic language teachers to support teaching in the United Arab Emirates and exchange experiences in the field of information technology.

In turn, the UAE Minister of Education, Dr. Al Falasi, expressed the desire to strengthen cooperation relations with Syria, hoping to open new horizons for cooperation and exchange of teachers and teachers who teach in Emirati schools.

Minister Al Falasi talked about the learning resources used by teachers and students in the UAE, the educational platforms project established by the UAE and the Madrasati project, which enriches the educational process, indicating the importance of studying the idea of ​​establishing a Syrian-Emirati joint school and teaching the Arabic language and promoting its use and mastery in light of globalization to preserve the nation's existence and its language.

The meeting was attended by Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, Director of Planning and International Cooperation Ghassan Al-Shughari, Secretary of the National Committee for UNESCO, Dr. Nidal Hassan, and a number of members of the Syrian mission to the United Nations.
