The government's "Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme" for the 2022/23 academic year will close on 30 September.

The Education Bureau reminds that eligible Hong Kong students who intend to apply for the "Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme" for the 2022/23 academic year and who are enrolled in designated Mainland institutions in the first year of the same academic year must apply for the Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme before the end of this month. Submit your application through the online application platform, or submit the completed application form to the Education Bureau by post.

The authorities pointed out that the subsidy scheme is expected to benefit the vast majority of Hong Kong students who are studying in the Mainland for bachelor's degree programmes and have different financial needs. It is expected that individual applicants will be notified of their application results in or before the first quarter of 2023.

The "Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme" is divided into "means-tested funding" or "non-means-tested funding". The former is only available to means-tested students.

Subsidy payments under the Subsidy Scheme will be disbursed on an annual basis. The subsidy period is the normal study period of the undergraduate degree programmes of the relevant students at designated Mainland institutions.

Eligible applicants can only receive either "means-tested subsidy" or "non-means-tested subsidy" within the same academic year.

More than 3,800 Hong Kong students have been sponsored to go to mainland universities to record highs.
